MasterChef’s Rice Fields

In which receipts are planted and SUSHI sprouts every block

Behind the kitchen there was a field, and in the field stood MasterChef, a scarecrow in a chef’s hat who never slept and never forgot a number.

MasterChef had one job. Every time the town clock ticked over to a new block, a basket of fresh SUSHI appeared, and MasterChef shared it out between the rice terraces. Anyone could plant something in a terrace, but not seeds. You planted your LP receipts.

Maki put on some boots and planted a receipt from the tuna–rice pool. One block later, a tiny golden coin had sprouted. “It’s growing!” said Maki. “It’s printing,” said Wasabi, who was always like this.

The basket is shared out by points. Tap the block, the basket and the plots.

“Why does the tuna terrace get the most coins?” asked Maki.

“Allocation points,” said MasterChef, without moving its mouth. “The kitchen decides which pools matter most. The tuna–rice terrace has 50 points, salmon has 30, egg has 20. So tuna gets half of every basket.”

“And then?”

“And then the tuna half is split among everyone who planted receipts there, by how many they planted. Plant a lot, harvest a lot.” MasterChef creaked. “Later, the kitchen started Onsen, a rotating menu of new pools with extra rewards, so new dishes could find their first customers.”

Plant Your Receipt

Choose a terrace, then choose how many LP receipts to plant. MasterChef will show you your slice of each block’s harvest, and how much that adds up to after a day of blocks.

Notice that planting in a crowded terrace gives you a smaller share, even if the terrace has lots of points. Farmers are always hunting for the field with the best balance of points and people.

That evening, the cooks counted their coins and wondered what to do with them. The answer, as usual, was dinner.

The tuna terrace has the most points, but it’s crowded, so your slice is small.

Round, made-up numbers. Real reward rates changed over time, and the value of newly created SUSHI isn’t guaranteed.
